We get a choice of a few comp courses like
Computer Architechture
Operating Systems
Artificial Intelligence
...and one other one I cant remember
and we also get Applied PV.
What is good? What is bad?

I had to go to the OH&S Meeting the other day, and found out we apparently had a rat living in G12... Not just briefly spotted there, but living there!
And to flush it out, they wanted to bring in a snake!
I think we should use the snake to flush the gamers out also.
HOLY CRAP i almost hit the roof just then, I printed off the notes for sections 3 and 4 and when they came out of the printer they both said section 3! I would have broken something expensive for sure if it hadn't been a typo and I'd actually just wasted 25 pages of hard-earned ink and paper.....
Excellent :)
I didn't feel too good to be confused by something so simple in chapter 1!
WOOT I just made the 250th post!
Not bad going for what is really a young forum hey...
That would have been HEAPS funnier if it was filled out with his details.
Doesn't want to answer his email? Visit him at home!
Right, so I'm curious to know if anyone thinks that section 1 page 12 is incorrect. The equation for the integrator shows a negative sign, but the diagram shows only positive values. Was this corrected in a lecture? Is the diagram incorrect?
Wow. You are desperate for a conversation.
I think we need to get all the 1st years in on the forum next year. With all that first-year enthusiasm we cant go wrong.
For those following along at home, Pete and I resolved this over the phone. I was right. Av is negative.
Maybe we should all just compare numerical answers here, especially to part 1. So far I have:
R1 = 220k
R2 = 22k
R3 = 220k
R4 = 39k
(creative rounding)
R5 = 10k
RE = 820R
Gm = 0.03
R(Pi) = 4k
Av = -270 (I think it should be negative, Pete thinks it should be positive, discuss.)
I'm still doing the rest of the question. Part 2 and Part 3 seem pretty simple.
As for the common question of whether to recalculate everything due to the fact you have chosen rounded E12 resistors, the simple answer seems to be no. Resistors have an error tolerance of 5% anyway, and the biggest gap you will find when rounding is 10% (as there is roughly 20% between resistors in the E12 range). This 10% error won't play a huge part in the final answer (especially when it's just for biasing), so it doesn't matter whether you account for it or not. The fact he has asked us to round makes me think he's not too worried about overall accuracy.
Estimated marks anyone? I reckon about 75%, I was pretty happy with most of it except that I ended up with a nice looking buy ultimately unsimplified fraction for part 1...
what did you guys get for Q1? I'm finding it a little too easy given I have listened in exactly 1 of the lectures and I'd like some confirmation I'm at least close to being right...
excellent! Now is that easy to get in SVG format?
Ok so after the BBQ we came to the following conclusions:
We will instead get the following glass design:
http://www.mugsonly.com.au/product/AC36230
Also after looking at the results of the voting and also the practicality of using a white ink on a transparent glass, we have decided to use the current stubby holder design on the glasses. We will need someone to recreate this design in .svg format, please let us know if you can do this.
I think there is just something cool about having a stein. It's the handle that makes it impressive.
Something to consider, given we're printing onto glass we should probably pick a really simple design... It's going to be real hard to read unless we print in 2 colours...
Surely we could just block the IPX/SPX network protocol? Don't most of those games use that for LAN games?
Ok after a quick survey of opinions of the guys in the elsoc committee, I've put together the following proposal for the beer mugs. Let me know what you think, I will be making the final decision on FRIDAY.
The beer mug will be this style:
http://www.mugsonly.com.au/product/AC15710
The mug will have this design:
Ok guys I need the final shirt design selected BEFORE FRIDAY. If we really need to we can take a vote at the BBQ on Thursday, but I'll need the shirt in the correct format (.svg I think from memory) ON FRIDAY. Is anyone working on this?
I dunno about you guys but this really shits me. If you want to play computer games, take a CSE course and play the games in their labs. We don't have many computers in G16 and it really shits me when these guys take up 15 of them to play warcraft.
Yes dude next to me, I mean you.
Oh my god that is both horribly insensitive and incredibly hilarious at the same time. I think I'm laughing more than I'm cringing though.
My car has a doovy that shows you how much petrol the car is using per 100km as you drive. It normally shows about 2L/100km going down hills, if I put it down a gear it shows zero. I dunno if my car is special (it's a calais so it might be) but that's what i based it on.
" it's the best thing since sliced breadboard."
I think we missed out on a great shirt design here...
